Dear Me and You, Preparation for Disappointment

Dear Me and You,

I knew today would be a

lesson in accepting change

because I was preparing yesterday

and preparation is key in…

life, mothering, adulting—

all the things.

Unfortunately, I didn’t know I

would be disappointed

again, feeling duped

by my preparation. What

is the point? The pang of

disappointment is sharp

and often resting at the surface

of my skin, waiting to pierce, which

it does because of

friends, family, and kids

and I know I can’t change them,

so my only chance is to prepare me

more.

We made it through another day, me and you. Kudos.
